Drawing Practice - Little Buddhist Monk
Hi everybody,
I’m afraid the answer is ‘yes’. I’m still working on finding a good routine for creating art, being an entrepreneur and finding the time for everything else I want to do. It is quite a challenge. A few days ago, I started preparing for a new solo art show in 2026, which consists of getting all the artwork nicely framed and then getting everything inventoried and safely packed. I absolutely need to find an easier way to consistently post on my social media, being Facebook and Instagram. I’m furthermore so excited to start on all the creative projects buzzing in my head. I also want to keep working on my grimoires and art journals and I want to get back into practicing my drawing. As an intuitive artist, I think it’s important to be able to draw from memory in order to easily render what the Universe projects into the mind. 🔮
In a previous blog post about magical books, I already talked about how I am struggling with finishing all the sketchbooks and art journals I have on the go. I describe how I have the habit of starting a new book every time I have a new idea and how I intend to treat them all as magical books, tackling them one at a time. So, determined to start a fresh drawing routine, what do I do? I start a brand new mixed media sketchbook, being number 10. No, I don’t think this is funny. 🤣
There are 30 sheets in this book. So, my plan is to make 30 drawings from reality or a reference photo and then let this drawing inspire a magical and intuitive spread. We’ll see how that goes. If it works, I will carry over this routine to all my started sketchbooks, art journals and grimoires. 📚
As I’m also trying to develop a sustainable filming routine to create videos, I was thinking of sharing this process on my YouTube channel. I hope this will also hold me accountable and perhaps it will inspire you to get into a drawing practice routine as well. Please join my Facebook group where you can share your work with our Glowing Roots community. That will be so much fun! 🎥
So, I have been wanting to draw this little buddhist monk for a very long time. That’s why I decided to sketch him first. I purposely didn’t start on the first page since that seems to make it more daunting when I start thinking about all the pages left to fill. I think it will help if I encounter pages with something on it when I flip through the book. 🕉️
Are you curious how this will pan out? Me too! 🤨
I hope you enjoy the video! 🌸
With Love and Light,
Rika 💖🙏💖😊
